Guess Sunglasses
Guess, also known as GUESS?, is a popular
name-brand clothing line in America that
uses a question mark as its trade-mark. It
is known for its very sexy advertisements
seen in fashion magazines that have had
black-and-white pictures of fashion models
and actresses such as Beau Garrett, Drew
Barrymore, Anna Nicole Smith and many other
famous faces over the years.
Guess also markets other fashion accessories
besides clothes, namely their name brand
sunglasses that have the down-to-earth
styling that the Guess? company is known
for.
Guess? was founded by four brothers born in
Algeria but who grew up in the south of
France and they were influenced by the
culture and style in the region. The
brothers moved to California in 1977 and
founded the Guess? Company in 1981. Georges,
Armand, Paul, and Maurice Marciano’s first
product was a three-zipper style of jeans
they dubbed"Marilyn". Department stores and
fashion critics were, at first, rather
reluctant to carry the new brand of “stone
washed denim” jeans. But, Bloomingdale's
finally agreed with Georges to put two dozen
pairs of the new style of jeans on their
shelves as a favor to the brothers. They
sold out in record time.
The brother’s started the advertising
campaigns in 1982, and then they introduced
the sexy, now famous, black-and-white ads in
1985. The ads have won many Clio Awards. The
fashion models used for the Guess?
advertising campaigns have included a number
of widely recognized supermodels, many of
which first achieved major recogniton due to
the sexy ad campaigns. Guess models have
included Alessandra Ambrosio, Diora Baird,
Ana Beatriz Barros, Carla Bruni, Naomi
Campbell, and a host of others.
The 1980s saw Guess? as one of the most
popular brands of jeans. The Guess? Company
was one of the first to create designer
jeans. The first jeans Guess? were designed
for women, but in 1983 a men's line debuted.
In 1984 Guess? introduced its new line of
watches known as "Guess?", "Guess? Steel",
and "Guess? Collection”…and the 80s also saw
the introduction of the Guess? line of
sunglasses. These sunglasses ranged from
stylish clip-ons designed to be used with
prescription sunglasses to some pink
sunglasses designed for the ladies. In 1984,
they also introduced a line of baby clothes,
called "Baby Guess?"
Today, Guess? sunglasses are the
down-to-earth person’s choice for easy style
with classic good looks. Guess? sunlgasses
offer 100% UV protection, and are
comfortable to wear. Whatever you choice,
Guess? offers a wide range of styles to suit
every person’s particular fashion tastes and
style.
